In addition to filtering the blood and detoxifying chemicals for safe excretion, the liver produces bile, an essential part of fat digestion. The bile that is produced is stored in the gall bladder. After a meal, the digestion process stimulates the gall bladder to deposit bile into the duodenum of the small intestine where the bile reduces fat globules into smaller, more digestible particles.
